Modern Optics

This course is designed to introduce students to the basic concepts related to Modern Optics. Students will also learn a broad range of topics usually associated with both classical and modern optics as well as experimental techniques including: reflection, refraction, absorption, polarization, and diffraction of light, filters, lasers, nonlinear properties, and Fourier optics.

Upon completion of this course, students will become knowledgeable with modern optics, understand its development, theories, mathematics and experimental techniques used to understand and predict optical properties. Examination of past and current literature will be required.
